5 Dress Details That Flatter Any Body
I know. You want to look KILLER for your photos. And before babies, you knew you could own any outfit. Now, after bringing those precious lives into the world, you may be feeling a little less confident in rocking your photos. Don’t worry, I gotchu! Here are my 5 go-to features for dresses that will flatter any body type.
1 - Flutter Sleeve
Having a sleeve that doesn’t cling to your arm will help slim the arm and will prevent any squishing that may happen with those bear hugs we’ll for sure have happen during your shoot. Even the most toned guns will look bigger and lose their muscular shape if they’re squished. A flutter sleeve or longer sleeve will have your back (or arm) and keep your arms looking lean.
2 - Natural Waist
Having a dress that hugs at the right place on your waist is key. Try to have your waist cinched in at it’s smallest part. Where’s that exactly? For most women, it’s right at the end of your rib cage. Whether the dress has an elastic band, a sash, or a belt, having it come tightest at your waist and then float away with work wonders for you.
3 - Midi or Maxi Length
Being a shorter gal myself, I don’t often wear super long dresses. But when it comes to getting photos taken? You better believe I get those longer dresses to earn their keep! Longer dresses (when paired with a heel or wedge) actually create length in your legs so you look longer and leaner. On top of that, our time together will be full of play and the less you have to worry about modesty, the better.
4 - Flow
Oh man, when a Mom shows up to our shoot in a flowy dress, my heart soars! We will be able to do some really fun things if your clothes have movement to them. Not only that, I know that no matter what prompts I give or play we do with your little ones, your dress is going to move in flattering ways. It won’t hug anything that you’d rather hide and we can all focus on simply enjoying our time together.
5 - Intentional Neck Line
Most women look really great in a garment that has a more open neckline. High necks can also be so pretty. The key here, is to make sure the neck line flatters you. If you go higher on the neck, make sure it’s not so tight that it pinches your neck or creates bulging if you move your neck around. If you decide to go with a V neck or more open neckline, make sure you’re not revealing more than you’re comfortable showing or that you’re not having to pull it back to cover your bra. Because we move around so much in our session, the less you have to worry about tugging that top, the happier you’ll be.
