about the session

When asked about dating Lauren, Mark said "I just feel really giddy". This topped my list of favorite quotes for the day! Anyone who spends time around these two can feel it. They are so playful and fun and gushing with love for each other! Giddy is the perfect word to describe them.

You may recognize these cuties from their gorgeous bridal session at the National Mall. I have been so excited to share the photos from their Maryland wedding day! I absolutely loved watching the love that these two have not only for each other but also for their friends and family who came to support them. Every time I turned around, Lauren was telling her sweet friends how beautiful they looked and how much they meant to her. It was Lauren’s big day, and she was completely wrapped up in others. I couldn’t believe how selfless and wonderful she was! In my eyes, she is the perfect bride.

The Washington, DC, LDS temple is magical at this time of year. We lucked out and were able to spend a little extra time in front of the big golden doors, which added a sense of luxury to their photos. This temple has doors all around the outside, so you are always able to find a set to incorporate into your portraits!

Toasts are quickly becoming my favorite part of weddings because you get to know so much about the couple. People shared countless stories of how Lauren and Mark have selflessly served, put others first, and been there to help those they love without any second thoughts. I thought over and over again of the phrase "like calls to like". Lauren and Mark are very different; they’re your classic opposites attract trope, but when it came down to it, what mattered most to both of them was in perfect harmony. They’re both totally loving of others, loving toward each other, and committed to goodness. Mom quoted My Big Fat Greek Wedding in her toast to illustrate this point: "We’re all different, but in the end, we’re all fruit." And these two fruits are the perfect match.
