about the session

This beautiful couple is Dumdi and Ryan! They met while attending college at BYU. Dumdi is Nigerian, and came to the United States when she was just 6 years old. Her family settled in Texas and made a new life for themselves. She came to Utah to attend college at BYU, and met Ryan shortly after that. She also recently became a US citizen! If you want to read more about her incredible story, check out her blog: www.sincerelydumdi.com.

As you can see, Dumdi has a smile that could light up any room. Her zest for lief is absolutely contagious. Ryan is a very strong, silent type and they work perfectly together as a couple.

Because of COVID, Dumdi and Ryan had to completely change their wedding plans…a few times. They ended up getting married civilly and planned to get settled as soon as LDS temples in Utah reopened. They patiently waited until the Provo City Center Temple could be opened again so they could experience this sacred ceremony. They were able to secure a sealing date and time just two days in advance! My younger sister connected me with Dumdi not long after they found out they’d be getting sealed. I was so honored that I could be even a tiny part of their special sealing day.

Since the temple sealing was such a spontaneous event, Dumdi and Ryan were only able to have a handful of friends and family present. It was a beautiful day with just 12 people in the entire temple, including temple workers! They were able to have such a peaceful and calming ceremony, which was a welcome respite from the craziness of 2020.

Though our time together was pretty short, I will always remember just how happy these two are to be together. They love each other so much and were ecstatic to be sealed together as a couple. I never saw them with anything less than giant smiles and pure love for each other and their special guests. Congratulations again, Dumdi and Ryan! I hope your married life has been lovely so far.

fast facts

I first communicated with the couple just two days before their sealing!

The Provo City Center is a gorgeous temple with large, well landscaped grounds.

No matter the time of year, this temple is one of my favorite places to shoot.
