Taryn + Brett | Mountain Engagements
about the session
Meet Taryn and Brett! They are high school sweethearts and two of the nicest and most motivated people I’ve ever met!
Brett originally reached out to me and I have to be honest—I kind of thought his email was a joke, haha. He wanted me to photograph his surprise proposal to Taryn while she was in Utah visiting a friend! Isn’t that so sweet? His plan was to secretly fly from Arkansas to Utah, tell Taryn he was surprising her with a joint graduation photoshoot with her friend, and then propose during the shoot. My heart can barely take it.
Unfortunately, Brett’s incredible plan wasn’t able to happen the way he wanted because of COVID. He and I chatted pretty constantly for a few days trying to figure out a way to make our shoot together work. With grounded planes and shutdowns, travel seemed a little impossible. And then Taryn’s friend had to quarantine, so the graduation photoshoot was also off the table!
Finally, Brett decided to take her to a lake in Arkansas. He took her to the spot where he had first asked Taryn to be his girlfriend years ago and asked her to be his wife. I KNOW! She said yes, of course, and he immediately told her to pack a bag. They flew out to Utah and I took their engagement pictures at Tibble Fork Reservoir!
I could tell from my few minutes with this beautiful couple that they are genuinely best friends. I was so sad at the end of our session because I wanted to spend more time with them! It’s an incredible honor that they were willing to fly thousands of miles from home for me to take their engagement photos.
