Sarah and Ian met on a double date involving pizza and McFlurries, so I had a hunch they would be super fun to work with! When I asked about their relationship, the word that kept coming up was “natural,” and I have to agree. Sarah and Ian were so natural together. They just fit. It was a delight to photograph their big day!
The sweet couple got married at the Philadelphia temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in the heart of Philly, right across from Logan Square. It is an absolutely immaculate venue and fits right in with the 1700’s American Architecture that surrounds it. The grounds are small, so we opted to go across to Logan Square Park and take some photos with the temple in the back and it was *chef’s kiss* perfect!
Sarah and Ian’s families came from all over the country for their wedding. Despite the crazy August heat, they all smiled and laughed as if there was nowhere else they’d rather be. What was different about this wedding was the family really wanted to focus on getting lots of beautiful photos of the bride and groom. I LOVED that the whole focus of the day was on their love and the creation of their new family!
The intimate backyard vibe wedding reception took place at the Green Valley Inn located just outside of the city. It is truly a little oasis. It’s intimate, beautiful, and sits right next to a river. The scenery was perfect for what the couple wanted. I loved the simple all-white decor that really gave the venue a fresh, airy look. From the paper lanterns to the twinkle lights, everything was just perfect. The lemonade bar was a huge hit and was so refreshing for guests on a hot August day.
Getting to explore so many different parts of Philadelphia and the surrounding countryside was absolutely incredible. The city is one of the coolest I’ve ever visited and the Green Valley Inn was a breath of fresh air. It would be a dream to shoot in Philly again. I would love more than anything to keep going back for LDS temple weddings!
