Spring Mountain Family Photos | Squaw Peak Field
about the session
Cydne and Brayden are one of those love stories you hear about as a teen and dream of having as your own. They were high school sweethearts, both took time away from school to serve missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and were married soon after returning home. They both went on to get upper-level degrees and became very successful in their careers. Can you say power couple? Because they totally are. Cydne and Brayden went to Japan years ago to adopt their daughters, Ryan & Hazel, who were born a year apart, and bring them back to the states. Years later, they were able to welcome Cal into their family. This family has come together with different cultures and heritages that are beautiful, important, and rich with tradition. They strive to honor and celebrate those heritages while creating their own family legacy. They are in the process of finding the next member of their family. To hear more about them and their journey, you can follow Cyndey’s Instagram account here.
We decided to take the Evans Family photos at Squaw Peak in Provo. Squaw Peak in the spring is so dreamy. It’s so lush and green and with those mountain views–– you feel like you’re catching scenes from the Sound of Music. This particular spot is a little tricky to direct someone to since cell service is spotty and the road is a bumpy dirt one, but once you get photos like these, it’s totally worth the effort to get there.
Getting to spend some time with the Evans is so uplifting, even if it’s only for a few minutes. Cydne and I chatted about the different roads there are to motherhood and how difficult both the journey to it and the enduring work after it are. No matter how we get our children, how much we love them, and how grateful we are for our families, it’s normal and ok to feel tired, stressed, or like you need a break. There’s something about hearing that message from someone you admire so much. It validates it in a way no Instagram meme can do. Motherhood is hard and the effort it takes is one of the reasons it’s so beautiful.
fast facts
Squaw Peak is the perfect location for family photos in the spring. It looks like it’s straight out of a movie!
The Evans adopted their daughters from Japan before they welcomed their son into their family. Cydne shares lots of her motherhood journey on her Instagram.
The Evans dressed perfectly for their session. If you’re in need of some outfit examples, this darling family did a great job!
A couple of reasons this session was so fun and produced such beautiful images were because:
The Evans came dressed so beautifully. The neutral colors really popped against the green of the mountain.
Cynde and Brayden let their kids be themselves. We wrangled their spunk, soothed their shyness, and really had fun playing together.
We played a lot. From playing chase to letting Cal throw dirt in the air, we played hard and that made the images so genuine and magical.
