The Keeling Family | Family Photos in a Mountain Meadow

This beautiful family photo session was such a pleasure to photograph. We went to Deer Creek Reservoir in Northern Utah and the weather was delightful. The Keeling family consists of Mom and Dad with their two darling daughters. Preston and Jessie were some of my very first clients ever! I took their engagement photos, wedding photos and I have had the pleasure of working with them regularly since then. They are always a total dream. They just welcomed their second daughter (Emmie) into their family this Spring and I could tell Nora is just the best big sister. Watching them interact with each other made my heart sing. Their family chemistry was contagious and this photo session was no different than the others, I love working with them.
This meadow in Deer Creek Reservoir has been such a gem and it has been a great spot especially for families. It is easy to get incredible views and it always offers a lot of time in the sun so there is no rush to fight the horizon.
This gallery has a combination of posed and candid photographs that show playful interactions between all four of the family members. I was so happy with the range and the lighting of the entire shoot. The Keelings came right from a wedding for this shoot. I was amazed they were willing to make that kind of sacrifice but they really wanted to work with me. I could tell the girls were exhausted and I felt for Preston and Jessie. It had been a long day already! Emmie only wanted to be held by Mom and so in most of the photos, you can tell we tried our best to accommodate her. Nora was shy at first but once she warmed up, she loved showing off her ruffled dress and darling bow. I was only in town for that weekend and I am so glad we made this photoshoot work. The wedding attire they had on was perfect because the neutral colors complimented the green field and the mountains in the background. I was thrilled with how everything came together. I can't wait to work with them again soon!

Toddlers who are shy often just need a little bit of time. Once they warm up however, that is when the photos really come to life!
Deer Creek Reservoir is a wonderful place for photos, especially family photos. The lighting is great.
