Welcoming Baby Lila | Alexandria, Virginia Newborns

I got to shoot the most adorable little family in Alexandria! Abbie & Alex met in college when they were both attending school down in Alabama. Abbie is from Wisconsin while Alex hails from Georgia. It’s absolute an act of God that the two found each other! And not only did they both travel away from home for school, the two actually met when they went on a mission trip! No better way to meet right?
The two dated, fell in love, and were married in Alex’s home of Marrietta, GA. They lived there for several years while Abbie started her career as a teacher and Alex became a police officer. Alex’s dream job led them to Washington DC where Alex is now working as a US Marshall. During the 2020 pandemic, the two found out they were expecting their first little girl and welcomed her to the family in April of the following year.
I love doing newborn shoots in the couple’s home, which is where we took pictures of sweet baby Lila. This shoot was just what I needed. Not only did my southern heart get to connect with people from back home, but I got to be reminded of how sweet those fresh bundles from heaven really are. Lila was a dream. She was peaceful, still, and smiled gently in her sleep. You could tell what incredible parents Alex and Abbie are. They love this little girl. Lila is so blessed to have them as her parents because they’re going to do everything they can to help her become the person God needs her to be.
Their home was a great place for a shoot because it was light, had a couple of big windows, and was really well staged and cared for. I had such a fun time taking their pictures, and I’m so excited to share them on the blog!

Alexandria is absolutely adorable and such a fun place for a young family. It has an old town charm that really can’t be beat.
So many sweet moments happen at home, it just really sets a beautiful tone to document newborns in this couple’s Alexandria, VA home.
Families don’t need huge, Pinterest-worthy homes to have an in-home family session. Really, if you just have a clean space with a big window, your family pictures will turn out lovely.
