ABOUT THIS SESSION

Oh the joy of getting to meet and enjoy new relationships in my new state! I cannot wait to tell you about the incredible humans that are the Salgado family. By the end of our shoot, I wanted to be real-life friends with them — they are so friendly and kind! This shoot was so fun for me because they were so relaxed about walking around and waiting for crowds to thin out so we could get the perfect shot.

A little about this adorable family: after Ethan graduated from the Air Force Academy, his next step was Ohio to get his PhD. That’s where he met Gabrielle. A few short months after their wedding, they moved down to DC and became pregnant with their daughter, Jenny. They’ve spent the past several years making DC their home but are now headed for a new adventure back at the Air Force Academy where Ethan will be teaching!

As Ethan and Gabrielle told me their story, Ethan kept telling me how he knew God sent him to Ohio to find her and that he picked an amazing partner. He praised her parenting, commented on how good of a mother she is, and how smart, capable, and strong she is.

I often am amazed by the goodness of the women I get to work with, but hearing about it from her own husband?? That really tugged at my heartstrings. Jenny has so much energy and loves to be in the thick of anything going on. I loved watching this family navigate such a busy place!

Shooting around Washington DC is absolutely incredible. You can’t get much better than that historic, white architecture and those incredible cherry blossoms. The blossoms only last a few weeks in April, so when they come, you have to be willing to act fast. Clients who want to shoot here need to be flexible with their session date and also be willing to come earlier in the morning when the crowds aren’t as intense.

I was so grateful these guys were willing to work with me on an expedited schedule (we had to move their original session date up about two weeks to catch the cherry blossoms!). I’m happy I got the chance to meet them and hope we can reconnect often and soon! I’d love to meet your lovely family too — shoot me a message to schedule your family photo session!
