The DeSoza Family | In-Home Newborn Session

Meet the DeSoza family! I have been taking photos of Victoria and Marcel for a few years now. They moved to Utah from Brazil for Marcel to attend his MBA program at BYU. I’ve been lucky to have a few sessions with them throughout their years in Utah.

Their son, Ollie, was born after their first year of school. Baby Aurora was born as they were preparing to head back to Brazil at the end of Marcel’s program! It’s so fun that their time in Utah has been bookended by the births of their sweet children. I first met this family when Ollie was six months old and now he’s a lively and adorable two-year-old!

Taryn + Brett | Mountain Engagements

Meet Taryn and Brett! They are high school sweethearts and two of the nicest and most motivated people I’ve ever met!

Brett originally reached out to me and I have to be honest—I kind of thought his email was a joke, haha. He wanted me to photograph his surprise proposal to Taryn while she was in Utah visiting a friend! Isn’t that so sweet? His plan was to secretly fly from Arkansas to Utah, tell Taryn he was surprising her with a joint graduation photoshoot with her friend, and then propose during the shoot. My heart can barely take it.

Summer Poppies Bridal Inspo | Alpine, Utah

This summer after finally hearing the hurt voices of the black community, I wanted to do something to help create change. The wedding industry is full of white examples—endless white brides in white dresses with white florals. I thought about little girls of color and how they hardly ever see women who look like them in wedding photographs, and how that might make them feel. I spent hours searching Pinterest for “black brides” + “black weddings” and all my searches came up with was white women in black dresses or weddings in which everyone wore black. I wanted to start doing my part in adding more diversity to the wedding world, which is why I did this styled shoot.

The Whitaker Family | Summer Wildflower Session

I am obsessed with how dreamy this session turned out. I mean, this family did such an incredible job of having neutral colors and with that fresh pop of blue, this outfits were perfection! The Whitaker’s were the ideal family because they had so much fun playing with their kids, which always makes for the most authentic family photos. I love capture those natural moments as a family. It was truly so great getting to meet and spend time with this family. I enjoyed my time with them immensely! So much, in fact, that we are getting together for a virtual game night next week. I can’t wait!

The Valentine Family | Golden Blooms in Alpine, Utah

One of the biggest compliments a photographer can get is when ANOTHER photographer asks you to do their own family’s photos, especially considering this photographer is another FAMILY photographer! Consider me totally and forever flattered. When I think back to this shoot, I can’t help but smile at how fun it was. Jessica and her husband laughed so easily with their kids and they all had so much fun playing together. I love when my photographers are able to radiate the emotions felt during a shoot and I think these do just that. They radiate love, joy, and safety, which is what we all felt that day!

The Hansen Family | An Autumn Family Session at Lambert Park

Everyone, meet Curtis, Melissa and their two littles, Griffin and Owen! After getting to know them, I can safely say that Curtis and Melissa are all-stars.

Melissa and I had been planning for these family photos for literal months before the actual date. We communicated pretty frequently and everything was going perfectly… Until a wildfire started in the Provo Canyon. Twenty minutes before family pictures were scheduled, this fire completely blocked off our access to the location.

The Broud Family | Fall Family Photos in Alpine, Utah

I’ll be honest here: Lindsey and Adam are two of the realist people I know. Sometimes I’ll meet clients that make me feel like we’ve been friends since 5th grade, and The Broud’s are no exception. Like the kind of friends that have seen you in your awkward phase, encouraged you through bad haircuts and braces, and are still here cheering you on in your adulthood. I’m telling you, Lindsey and Adam are rare gems.
